FULFILLMENT AND PACKAGING SPECIALIST

Job Title: Fulfillment and Packaging Specialist
Role Type:
Part-time employee, starting at 20 hours/week with the opportunity to work up to 32 hours/week
Role Location:
This position is an in-person position at our studio in Black Mountain, North Carolina
Role Offer:
$20 per hour; with opportunity for merit/cost of living raises offered annually

 

Classification
Permanent part-time, non-exempt

 

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill retail orders via Shopify within 1-2 business days of order placement

  • Fulfill wholesale orders via Faire or Shopify within 4-5 business days of order placement or by expected ship date

  • Fulfill distributor orders within 2-3 weeks based on inventory stocked

    • Help with fulfillment will be provided by Packaging Specialist 

    • Conduct quality control checks on all orders before shipping

  • Work collaboratively with the Fulfillment Coordinator to ensure timely order fulfillment and stocking of inventory

  • Ship all orders daily via USPS, UPS, or Fedex

  • Preparing packaging and shipping materials (adding stickers and freebies to mailers, making boxes, etc.)

  • Adhering to daily schedule and informing the Lead of any challenges or roadblocks that impeded workflow or required a shift in tasks

  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area daily

  • Communicate effectively when assistance is needed for packing larger orders

  • Maintaining professional & effective communication with all team members

  • Effectively receiving and applying feedback

  • Package all products sold based on order volume/popularity

  • Package and barcode inventory (check in with Fulfillment Coordinator)

  • Ensure accurate packaging of all products

  • Communicate with team members when products or packaging is low

  • Meet daily packaging quotas

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure inventory is well stocked

  • Prepare packaging materials (barcode labels) for product packers

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace

Pay Rate
$20 hourly with opportunity for merit/cost of living raises offered annually

 

Estimated Weekly Hours
Starting at 20 hours/week with the ability to work up to 32 hours a week
Must work during hours of operation: Monday - Friday 10AM-6PM

 

Measured Metrics and Review Schedule
This position has a 90 day probationary period, after which a meeting will be held to discuss permanent employment. Then a six-month check-in and a development review annually for the duration of employment. During each review, performance and ability to achieve the following metrics will be evaluated:

  • Fulfillment requirements are met, and daily tasks are completed as assigned

  • A consistent rate of fulfillment and product packing is maintained

  • Orders and products are being packed accurately

  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively within the team

  • Packaging requirements are met, and daily tasks are completed as assigned

  • Quality control (pulling out flawed products)

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to maintain consistent rate of fulfillment and product packing

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a calm and collected demeanor

  • Promotes the culture and values of the company while maintaining a positive work environment

  • Positive attitude towards coworkers and ability to work as a part of a team

  • Works well with similar daily routines and tasks

  • Willingness to work with flexibility and adjust to changing systems

  • Ability to address conflict by assuming positive intent and seeking to understand

  • Ability to embrace a mistake without fault

 

Preferred Skills

  • Previous order fulfillment experience

  • Experience with Shopify and/or Faire platforms

  • Passionate about sewing

 

Physical Demands
Some physical exertions which includes but are not limited to: 

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs as needed

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs daily (at this time our studio is only accessible by stairs)

  • Repetitive hand/arm movements
